Factors are the numbers used for dividing the given number exactly. All numbers are divisible by 1. Prime numbers are those which are exactly divisible by 1 and itself. So all prime numbers have only two factors. But other numbers except prime numbers have more than two factors.

Factors of 28 are: 1, 2, 4, 7, 14 and 28. Likewise we can get factors of 48, factors of 72 and so on. Getting factors are really interesting, so get along with the factors of numbers and enjoy factors.

You know what, i am enjoying this writing thing now a days. It is because through this writing i am not only providing you some help but at the same time, this is helping me to know the subject better. Today i will start with integers definition and about its rules. I hope you will enjoy this learning.

First let me share with you about what exactly integer is. Integer is that which is a complete unit. It includes both positive integer and negative integer and also zero. So examples for integers will be: 1, 2, 3, 4, -1, -2, -3, -4, 0 etc. Positive integers are 1,2, 3.... and negative integers are -1, -2, -3....

Regarding integers there are also integers rules based on the mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Following are the rules:

Negative + negative = negative.

Subtraction: positive - positive = positive.
Negative - negative = positive.

Multiplication: positive * positive = positive.
Negative * negative = negative.

Division: positive / positive.
Negative / negative = positive.

Recalling about my school days i still remember, my math days. Initially i don't use to enjoy math much but after my math teacher introduced the maths man thing, we just went crazy about math. You might be thinking what is this math man.

Our teacher used to give us few math problems and asked us to solve it. And the one who completes it faster and correctly was given the title of math man. With this competition we started practicing math hard in order to get that title. It was like having great fun with studies.

Once we also had maths week where the whole week we were allotted to do math. Math in the sense, various concepts of math. Likewise my interest in math grew and i started enjoying math. Now solving math problems is something that i enjoy.

It is very necessary to extract the fun out of studies otherwise it may turn very tiring. Our teacher did that with us and i do it with my niece and nephews and i will suggest you should also give a try with the younger ones. It works, just try it.

Do you know that signs are one of the mode of communication. Mathematics concerns with signs to a great extent. W e use signs in geometry, trigonometry, algebra and so on. Signs are covered in the 5th grade math. Let's get familiar with the basic signs.

The greater than sign: ">"

The smaller than sign: "<" The equal sign: "=" So basically these are the basic signs of math. Now what these signs suggests. The greater than sign signifies the greater value. E.g. 7 > 6, this suggests 7 is greater than 6.

The smaller than sign signifies a smaller value. E.g. 6 < href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equals_sign">equal sign signifies equality. R.g. 5 = (2+3), this suggests that both the value in the left hand side and right hand side are equal.

Let's learn algebra

When it comes to math, i always give up. Math formula one, Math formula two, tables, fractions, algebra, geometry and list goes on and on. These terms were enough to scare me a lot. When i remember my school days i recall my scary nights and all because of math and more specifically algebra. God it was so hard to get algebra answers. But now when i know algebra quite well, i think what was the reason behind my not being able to learn about algebra. It seems so simple now.

Algebra is one of the main part of mathematics. It basically deals with expression and variable in equation.

Simplifying algebraic equation is very important. First we need to understand the problem calmly, then breaking it into parts and then solving it. Following this technique will make the process of solving algebra problems quite easy and not just algebra but all other tougher things.

So just simplify math and be ready to blast math problems.

My encounter with Prime numbers

As a child i used to always get confused about the numbers: prime numbers , composite numbers, whole numbers etc. Few days back while teaching my niece i got a question: what is a prime number? I underwent the same feeling. Then i thought, i can't let this happen to her. I will have to learn the basics of the numbers and then make her do the same. So now you know, this is a resultant of my encounter with prime numbers.

A prime number is a natural number which has exactly two distinct natural number divisors: 1 and itself. Examples of list of prime numbers are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 ......

Now with the examples we can see that 2 is divided by only 1 and 2 (i.e, itself). The same is with 3, 5, 7 and so on. Following the same concept we can get all the prime numbers up to 100.

I am now completely clear about what are prime numbers and my niece too and i guess so are you. So at the end of the day my encounter with prime numbers went off well. Some other day i will try to go for composite numbers. For now i know very well about prime numbers.

I have always found algebra difficult but following few techniques make it interesting for me. Let's see how it work for you.
